Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as Sensex falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Tuesday’s session.

Future Consumer(up 12.68%), EIFFL(up 4.96%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 4.59%), Parag Milk(up 3.43%), Heritage Foods(up 1.77%), Umang Dairies(up 1.57%), Godrej Consumer Products(up 1.41%), Dodla Dairy(up 1.40%), Zydus Wellness(up 1.37%) and Hind.Foods(up 1.20%) stood among the top gainers.

Tasty Bite Eatables(down 2.34%), DFM Foods(down 1.89%), Emami(down 1.54%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 1.48%), Dabur India(down 1.08%), Prataap Snacks(down 0.90%), Gillette India(down 0.56%), Nestle India(down 0.50%), Dangee Dums(down 0.42%) and JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 0.41%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 106.5 points down at 17748.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 410.28 points at 59667.6.

Power Grid Corporation of India(up 4.52%), Coal India(up 4.49%), NTPC(up 4.02%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 3.62%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.14%), JSW Steel(up 1.88%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.87%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.71%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.58%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.57%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel(down 3.65%), Tech Mahindra(down 3.44%), Bajaj Finance(down 3.23%), Divis Laboratories(down 3.01%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.67%), Wipro(down 2.19%), HCL Technologies(down 2.02%), Infosys(down 1.98%), ICICI Bank(down 1.76%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.54%) closed in the red.
