Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.58 per cent), Lupin(up 1.36 per cent), Biocon(up 1.06 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.87 per cent) and Cipla(up 0.86 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Divis Laboratories(down 3.01 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(down 2.36 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(down 1.59 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.11 per cent up at 14171.6.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 106.5 points at 17748.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 410.28 points at 59667.6.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
