Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 93.15 points down at 17618.15 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Shrenik, Inventure Grwth, BKM Industries, Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd. and Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 10 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 40 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma and NTPC were among top gainers during the day, while Power Grid, Asian Paints, Axis Bank, Eicher Motors and Hero MotoCorp ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 286.91 points down at 59126.36.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, Infrastructure, Beverages – Alcoholic, Holding Company and Electric/Electronics sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Learning & Education, Textiles, Petrochemicals and Telecommunications sectors during the day.
