Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.94 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 0.42 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 0.34 per cent) and TVS Motor Company(up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Maruti Suzuki(down 2.56 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.37 per cent), Tata Motors(down 1.29 per cent), Bosch(down 1.06 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(down 1.01 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.69 per cent at 10525.15 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 102.75 points at 17515.4, while the BSE Sensex was down 363.67 points at 58762.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.
