Shares of Lupin(up 1.56 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.54 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.02 per cent), Biocon(up 0.72 per cent) and Cadila Healthcare(up 0.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Aurobindo Pharma(down 1.03 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.84 per cent up at 14587.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 86.1 points at 17532.05, while the BSE Sensex stood down 360.78 points at 58765.58.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.
