Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 86.1 points down at 17532.05 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as BKM Industries, Opto Circuits, Metalyst Forgings, Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd. and Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 25 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 25 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, M&M, Coal India Ltd, Indian Oil Corp., Dr. Reddys and ONGC were among top gainers during the day, while Bajaj Finserv, Maruti Suzuki, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance and Bharti Airtel ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 360.78 points down at 58765.58.
Traders piled up positions in Rubber, Diversified, Metals – Ferrous, IT – Hardware and Leather sectors, while selling was witnessed in Textiles, Learning & Education, Telecommunications, Petrochemicals and Power sectors during the day.
