Global Infras(up 4.97%), Adani Power(up 4.95%), Energy Development Company(up 4.88%), NTL(up 4.76%), Indowind Energy(up 4.62%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.62%), NTPC(up 4.04%), Adani Transmissions(up 3.69%) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 3.57%) stood among the top gainers.
JSW Energy Ltd.(down 1.57%), GE T&D India Ltd.(down 1.33%), KEC International Ltd.(down 0.43%), India Power Corporation Ltd.(down 0.32%), PTC India Ltd.(down 0.30%) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 0.10%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 159.2 points up at 17691.25, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 533.74 points at 59299.32.
Divis Laboratories(up 8.04%), Hindalco Industries(up 4.41%), NTPC(up 4.04%), Bajaj Finserv(up 3.66%), Tata Motors(up 2.61%), State Bank of India(up 2.55%), Bajaj Finance(up 2.29%), Tata Steel(up 2.03%), Tech Mahindra(up 2.03%) and SBI Life(up 1.8%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Cipla(down 2.91%), Grasim Industries(down 2.15%), UPL Ltd(down 1.36%), Eicher Motors(down 0.96%), Indian Oil Corporation(down 0.9%), Britannia Industries(down 0.72%), Bajaj Auto(down 0.69%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.66%), Titan Company Ltd(down 0.39%) and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.38%) closed in the red.
