Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 131.05 points up at 17822.3 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Silgo Retail, Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Inventure Grwth and BKM Industries, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 30 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 20 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, ONGC, IndusInd Bank, Coal India Ltd, Indian Oil Corp. and Bharti Airtel were among top gainers during the day, while Cipla, Hindalco, Shree Cements, Tata Consumer and Sun Pharma ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 445.56 points up at 59744.88.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, Aquaculture, Fertilisers, Gas & Petroleum and Paper sectors, while selling was witnessed in Learning & Education, Textiles, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock, Petrochemicals and Power sectors during the day.
