Shares of Bajaj Auto(up 3.29 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 2.65 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 2.06 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 2.03 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 1.72 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.61 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 0.43 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries(down 0.4 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.37 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.09 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.88 per cent up at 11476.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 46.0 points at 17991.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 148.53 points at 60284.31.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 ended in the green, while 21 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, BHEL, IDBI Bank, Suzlon Energy and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Pasupati Acrylon, Network18 Media, Hindprakash Industri, IDBI Bank and Hindustan Motor hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Inventure Grwth, Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd., Vera Synthetic, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd. and Servotech Power Syst hit their fresh 52-week lows.
