Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Wednesday’s session.

Parag Milk(up 7.70%), ADF Foods(up 4.99%), Umang Dairies(up 4.41%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 3.92%), Vadilal Industries(up 3.14%), Godrej Consumer Products(up 3.10%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 1.31%), Prataap Snacks(up 1.30%), Dabur India(up 1.13%) and Emami(up 1.12%) stood among the top gainers.

JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 2.75%), Euro India Fresh Foods(down 2.74%), Future Consumer(down 1.91%), Nakoda Group(down 1.63%), Varun Beverages(down 1.40%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.10%), Dodla Dairy(down 0.75%), Colgate Palmolive(India)(down 0.67%), Nestle India(down 0.49%) and Tasty Bite Eatables(down 0.48%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 169.8 points up at 18161.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 452.74 points at 60737.05.

Tata Motors(up 20.45%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 5.08%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 3.92%), ITC(up 3.27%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 3.13%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 3.0%), Grasim Industries(up 2.41%), Wipro(up 2.05%), Tech Mahindra(up 2.02%) and Larsen & Toubro(up 1.97%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki(down 2.75%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.17%), Coal India(down 1.68%), SBI Life(down 1.56%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.1%), Nestle India(down 0.49%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.36%), Axis Bank(down 0.32%), Bajaj Auto(down 0.28%) and State Bank of India(down 0.27%) closed in the red.
