Tata Motors(up 18.53 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 6.79 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 4.71 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 2.41 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries(up 1.22 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Eicher Motors(down 0.41 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.31 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 3.91 per cent at 11925.2 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 142.75 points at 18134.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 370.42 points at 60654.73.
