Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Thursday’s session.

Euro India Fresh Foods(up 4.98%), ADF Foods(up 3.42%), Emami(up 1.62%), Heritage Foods(up 1.34%), Dangee Dums(up 0.95%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 0.57%), P & G Hygiene(up 0.54%), Dodla Dairy(up 0.44%), Britannia Industries(up 0.29%) and Bajaj Consumer(up 0.19%) stood among the top gainers.

Umang Dairies(down 4.05%), Parag Milk(down 3.25%), Nakoda Group(down 2.26%), Godrej Consumer Products(down 1.86%), Vadilal Industries(down 1.43%), Dabur India(down 1.38%), DFM Foods(down 1.12%), Marico(down 0.80%), Colgate Palmolive(India)(down 0.80%) and Future Consumer(down 0.65%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 176.8 points up at 18338.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 568.9 points at 61305.95.

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 7.09%), Wipro(up 5.3%), Grasim Industries(up 4.5%), ITC(up 2.95%), HDFC Bank(up 2.93%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.63%), ICICI Bank(up 2.44%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 2.4%), Divis Laboratories(up 2.35%) and IndusInd Bank(up 2.15%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Coal India(down 3.29%), Tata Motors(down 1.83%), Eicher Motors(down 1.81%), Tata Consultancy(down 1.2%), HCL Technologies(down 1.12%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.01%), Bajaj Finance(down 0.84%), Asian Paints(down 0.77%), Bharti Airtel(down 0.59%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.59%) closed in the red.
