Paras Defence share price: Biggest gainers & losers of the day: Paras Defence soars, Antony Waste tanks 11%

New Delhi: Domestic equity markets extended their winning streak to the seventh session as benchmark indices scaled new lifetime peaks. However, weaker GDP numbers from China and inflationary concerns jittered the global sentiments.

The 30-share pack Sensex gained 459.64 points or 0.75 per cent to close at 61,765.59. Its broader peer Nifty50 added 135.50 points or 0.76 per cent to 18,477.05. Broader markets settled in green, with the BSE midcap index gaining a per cent.

Non-ferrous metal stocks stole the show during the first day of the week. SML Isuzu and Paras Defence hit the upper circuit during the session. On the other hand, Antony Waste Handling tanked 11 per cent, whereas Swelect Energy shed over 9 per cent.

GAINERS


SML Isuzu: The commercial vehicle player hit an upper circuit of 20 per cent to Rs 735.05 on the back of a strong technical setup and announcing its latest shareholding pattern. The company also informed the bourse about the date to declare its September quarter results.

Paras Defence and Space Technologies: The recently listed defence player hit the upper circuit of 20 per cent to Rs 759.90 as it was moved to ‘B’ category from ‘T’ Group and its circuit filter was revised to 20 per cent the 5 per cent earlier.

Electric Utilities: Companies that are incorporating a renewable energy subsidiary and/or Invits were in the buzz during the day. Tata Power zoomed 16 per cent to Rs 257.25, whereas NHPC soared 15 per cent to Rs 35.50. SJVN added 15 per cent to settle at Rs 32.55.

Aluminium Stocks: The metal-related companies were at the focus on the backdrop of good quarterly numbers posted by the US-based company Alcoa, which has recorded the highest ever quarterly profit. National Aluminium and Vedanta gained 13 per cent each to Rs 121.65 and 374.85, respectively.

Hindustan Copper: The state-owned copper company advanced 13 per cent to Rs 149.30 following the divestment buzz, which may begin next month. The Ministry of Mines has recommended strategic disinvestment in the company.

Hindustan Zinc: The Vedanta group’s subsidiary and zinc producer jumped 12 per cent to Rs 387.55 ahead of its results for the September 2021 quarters, which are scheduled on Friday, October 22.

LOSERS

Antony Waste Handling Cell: The solid waste management player tanked 11 per cent to Rs 343.75 ahead of its meeting with investors/analysts later in the evening.

Swelect Energy Systems: The solar power system player shed 9 per cent to Rs 254 as the investors booked profits following a sharp 30 per cent rise in the company in the last month.

Avenue Supermarts: The operator of Dmart declined 4894.90 despite a strong show and sharp recovery in September 2021 quarter as brokerage houses slashed its target price owing to its rich valuations.

RPSG Ventures: The IT and software player shed 5 per cent to Rs 942 on the back of profit booking in the counter. The company will announce its earnings for the September 2021 quarter soon.

Neuland Laboratories: The smallcap pharma player hit a lower circuit of 5 per cent to Rs 1734.50 following a sharp rise of 20 per cent in the last week. Investors turned cautious over the multi-bagger and took some profits off the table.

Dish TV: The Essel Group firm is gearing up for a legal battle with Yes Bank by planning to move the National Company Law Tribunal to appoint six of its nominees on the board of the loss-making company. The scrip gave up 5 per cent, its daily circuit limit to Rs 18.05.
