Laurus(up 1.17 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 0.64 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 0.22 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 0.13 per cent) and Abbott India(up 0.12 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Biocon(down 1.63 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(down 1.34 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 1.23 per cent), Granules India(down 1.13 per cent) and Strides Pharma Science(down 1.05 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.45 per cent at 14663.1 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 159.6 points at 18498.15, while the BSE Sensex was up 495.74 points at 61801.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 were trading in the green, while 11 were in the red.
