Tata Motors(up 0.8 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 0.77 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 0.51 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 0.38 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries(up 0.35 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Hero MotoCorp(down 1.28 per cent), TIINDIA(down 0.49 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 0.27 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 0.13 per cent) and Bosch(down 0.03 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.09 per cent at 11503.95 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 42.3 points at 18224.3, while the BSE Sensex was down 166.24 points at 61093.72.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.
