Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 63.2 points down at 18114.9 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Stylam Ind, Biocon, Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., SREI Infra Fin and Sansera Engineering Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 16 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 33 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, ONGC, Kotak Bank and Axis Bank were among top gainers during the day, while Hindalco, Coal India Ltd, Tata Motors, ITC and Tata Consumer ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 101.88 points down at 60821.62.
Traders piled up positions in Cables, Real Estate, Electric/Electronics, Agro Processing and Leather sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Learning & Education, Services, Metals – Non Ferrous and Sugar sectors during the day.
