“The company is looking at formalising a succession plan and a chief executive who will report to Berry, who may take up larger responsibilities,” an executive directly aware of the development said on condition of anonymity.
Britannia has already sounded off head hunters for the new position, said the executive.
In the middle of this year, Britannia’s chief commercial officer Gunjan Shah had quit to join Bata as its new CEO.
A company spokesperson said in response to ET’s query, “We are looking for an elevated role to succeed the position of chief commercial office, as the business expands and grows further.”
The maker of Good Day and Marie Gold biscuits has been augmenting capacity amid growing demand for its packaged foods, as in-home consumption of biscuits and other packaged foods surged amid strict lockdown last year, and now with reopenings, out-of-home consumption is gaining momentum.
The company is setting up a greenfield plant at an investment of ₹340 crore with annual production capacity of 125,000 tonnes.
