Shares of MPhasis(up 3.32 per cent), L&T Technology(up 2.85 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 2.33 per cent), Infosys(up 1.48 per cent) and HCL Technologies(up 0.89 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge(down 0.89 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.97 per cent up at 35503.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 57.45 points at 18210.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 206.93 points at 61143.33.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.
