Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 1.81 per cent), ICICI Bank(up 0.42 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, RBLBANK(down 10.2 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 3.21 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 3.04 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 2.3 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 2.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.0 per cent down at 39115.6.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 185.6 points at 17671.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 677.77 points at 59306.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Tata Power, YES Bank and IRCTC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Esab India, Bharat Bijlee, Canara Bank , Pioneer Distil and Triveni Turbine hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Suvidhaa Infoserve Ltd., D K Enterprises Global Ltd., Felix Industries, Servotech Power Syst and Sansera Engineering Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
