NEW DELHI: A number of stocks surged as much as 5% or more in Tuesday’s trade as Dalal Street closed lower for the day.
Equity benchmark Sensex ended the session down 109.4 points at 60029.06.
The top gainers included Rama Phosphates(up 10.0%), Archidply Ind(up 10.0%), Manaksia Steels(up 10.0%), Northern Spirits(up 10.0%), Dr. Agarwals Eye H(up 10.0%), Mindteck India(up 9.98%), Ind-Swift Labs(up 9.95%), S R Industries(up 9.94%), Adishakti Loha and Ispat Ltd.(up 9.92%) and Captain Pipes(up 9.92%) which surged over 5% in today’s trade.
In the Nifty 50 index, stocks such as Maruti Suzuki(up 2.31%), Titan Company (up 1.98%), NTPC(up 1.75%), SBI(up 1.16%) and L&T(up 1.13%) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty 50 index ended 40.7 points down at 17888.95.
Among the 50 components in the Nifty index, 22 shares ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.
