larsen & toubro: L&T construction arm bags orders worth up to Rs 2,500 crore

Larsen & Toubro’s construction arm has bagged orders worth Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore from metal industry and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the engineering major said on Monday.

L&T bagged the DRDO order to construct their flight control system facility at Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bengaluru. The project entails construction of a 1.2 lakh square feet facility that would include six floors above the ground floor. The project is scheduled to be fast tracked to be completed in four months.

“The project will demonstrate L&T’s technological expertise in modular offsite construction with composite truss beam technology that will be used for the structure. Ninety percent of the building components will be manufactured off site except for the foundations,” L&T said.



In the metallurgical and material handling space, L&T bagged and engineering, procurement and construction order for a 12 million ton per annum (mtpa) dry circuit systems on a turnkey basis for a screening plant (SP-III) from NMDC Limited at their Kirandul Complex, Chhattisgarh.

“This plant will be one of the largest iron ore handling plants and aims to ensure uninterrupted iron ore supply for different customers of NMDC,” the statement said.

L&T also bagged other orders for its products business in the mining sector and add-on orders from its existing customers. The company did not disclose details of these orders.
