Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Tuesday’s session.

Parag Milk(up 2.92%), Emami(up 2.17%), Tasty Bite Eatables(up 2.08%), Zydus Wellness(up 1.26%), ADF Foods(up 0.60%), Marico(up 0.44%) and P & G Hygiene(up 0.22%) stood among the top gainers.

Varun Beverages(down 3.87%), Britannia Industries(down 2.58%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(down 1.50%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 1.20%), Godrej Consumer Products(down 1.13%), Dodla Dairy(down 1.05%), Gillette India(down 0.98%), DFM Foods(down 0.91%), Heritage Foods(down 0.84%) and Future Consumer(down 0.70%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 24.3 points down at 18044.25, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 112.16 points at 60433.45.

Mahindra & Mahindra(up 3.8%), Tata Motors(up 1.65%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.17%), State Bank of India(up 1.13%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.13%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.12%), Larsen & Toubro(up 0.99%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.94%), ICICI Bank(up 0.82%) and Grasim Industries(up 0.81%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Britannia Industries(down 2.58%), HDFC Bank(down 1.75%), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.39%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.37%), JSW Steel(down 1.34%), NTPC(down 1.28%), HDFC(down 1.27%), Bajaj Finance(down 1.25%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.11%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.02%) closed in the red.
