Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 10:45AM

Parag Milk(up 4.81%), Britannia Industries(up 1.67%), Godrej Consumer Products(up 0.85%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(up 0.72%), Umang Dairies(up 0.67%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 0.61%), Gillette India(up 0.55%), DFM Foods(up 0.53%), Prataap Snacks(up 0.40%) and Bajaj Consumer(up 0.38%) were among the top gainers.

Emami(down 2.62%), Varun Beverages(down 1.46%), Hind.Foods(down 1.07%), Vadilal Industries(down 1.01%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.93%), Marico(down 0.89%), Future Consumer(down 0.71%), Heritage Foods(down 0.57%), Tasty Bite Eatables(down 0.52%) and Zydus Wellness(down 0.30%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 96.15 points down at 17948.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 333.57 points at 60099.88 at around 10:45AM.

Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.53%), UPL Ltd(up 2.16%), Britannia Industries(up 1.56%), Bharti Airtel(up 1.19%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.99%), Cipla(up 0.82%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.79%), Tata Motors(up 0.65%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.63%) and Indian Oil Corporation(up 0.57%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Steel(down 3.27%), Hindalco Industries(down 3.1%), JSW Steel(down 2.94%), IndusInd Bank(down 2.12%), Coal India(down 1.88%), Asian Paints(down 1.61%), ICICI Bank(down 1.54%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.47%), HDFC(down 1.41%) and NTPC(down 1.23%) were trading in the red.
