The 30-share pack Sensex soared 767 points or 1.28 per cent to close at 60,687. Its broader peer Nifty50 advanced 229 points or 1.28 per cent to 18,103. The broader markets underperformed but BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices settled higher.
Ajit Mishra, VP – Research, Religare Broking said markets recovered sharply and posted gains of over a per cent, taking a breather after the recent dip.
Meanwhile, among stock-specific action, investors are lapping up shares of new-age tech companies like Zomato and Nykaa. On the other hand, they dumped shares of NR Agarwal Industries and Solara Pharma after flop show in the September quarter.
Let’s have a look at the biggest movers and shakers of Friday’s session:
GAINERS
Glass: The auto parts and equipment player zoomed 16 per cent to Rs 482.35 on the back of a strong technical set-up. The traded volume on the counter jumped manifold compared to the two-week average.
SP Apparels: The apparels and accessories player surged 11 per cent to Rs 383.45 after the company reported a 101 per cent rise in September 2021 quarter to Rs 23.24 crore as against Rs 11.56 crore in the same quarter previous year.
IDFC: The NBFC player rallied 10 per cent to Rs 63 after the company’s board cleared the merger scheme of its three wholly-owned arms IDFC Alternative, IDFC Trustee Company and IDFC Projects into itself.
Ahluwalia Contracts (India): The real estate player advanced 10 per cent to Rs 450 ahead of its financial results for the September quarter scheduled for Saturday and investor/analyst meeting to be hosted on Monday.
Prozone Intu Properties: The smallcap realty firm, backed by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, hit the upper circuit of 10 per cent at Rs 29.80 after the company returned to black and reported a net profit of Rs 1.17 crore in the September quarter.
Zomato: The online delivery platform extended gains and soared 9 per cent to Rs 153.30 following its Q2 show. Also, the company has acquired a significant stake in Samast Technologies and Bigfoot Retail Solutions.
LOSERS
NR Agarwal Industries: The paper and paper products player tanked 11 per cent to Rs 277.40 after it reported a more than 60 per cent fall in its net profit to Rs 6.45 crore in the quarter ended on September 30, 2021.
: The pharmaceutical shed another 11 per cent to Rs 1,117.95 after the company’s net profit almost halved to Rs 30.07 crore in Q2FY22 as against a net profit of Rs 53.60 in Q2FY21.
: The transport-related services provider dropped 9 per cent to Rs 206.60 after the company reported a muted set of numbers in the September 2021 quarter. It had reported a net profit of Rs 4.52 crore in the quarter.
Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri: The smallcap jewellery player posted a 53 per cent decline in the net profit to Rs 6.62 crore for the quarter ended on September 30, 2021. The scrip settled at Rs 85.95, 8 per cent lower.
VRL Logistics: The logistics player slipped over 7 per cent to Rs 485 thanks to the profit booking on the counter. The scrip rallied as much as 33 per cent in the last one month after which investors took some money off the table.
