Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.03 per cent), MRF(up 0.73 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 0.58 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.55 per cent) and TIINDIA(up 0.17 per cent) were among the top gainers.
TVS Motor Company(down 3.34 per cent), Bajaj Auto(down 2.29 per cent), Bosch(down 1.13 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.03 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(down 0.89 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.26 per cent at 11659.95 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 82.15 points at 17955.75, while the BSE Sensex was up 254.51 points at 60174.2.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.
