Shares of IDFCBANK(up 1.47 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 1.32 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 1.24 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.0 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 0.67 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank(down 0.27 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 0.24 per cent), RBLBANK(down 0.19 per cent) and Federal Bank(down 0.1 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.45 per cent up at 38733.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 229.15 points at 18102.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 767.0 points at 60686.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red.
