Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 4.36 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.74 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.47 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 1.45 per cent) and Lupin(up 1.35 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 2.86 per cent), Laurus(down 2.11 per cent), Granules India(down 1.84 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 1.53 per cent) and Abbott India(down 1.18 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.41 per cent up at 13774.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 229.15 points at 18102.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 767.0 points at 60686.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red.
