Investment ideas: ETMarkets Investors’ Guide: Want to play digital theme? Search for Goggles, Amazons of future

Welcome to ETMarkets’ Investors Guide, a show about asset classes, market trends and investment opportunities. This is Saloni Goel.

Inflation concerns spooked markets globally this past week. Persistent foreign outflows amid Fed rate hike concerns made investors jittery back home as the domestic market valuations appear expensive, with Goldman Sachs fresh to join a list of foreign brokerages suggesting the same. But despite this, the week also saw India’s biggest-ever IPO, a Rs 18,300 crore issue by Paytm, sailing through with ease.

Amit Mudgill of ETMarkets.com talked to Trideep Bhattacharya, CO-CIO for Equities at Edelweiss AMC, to know about his reading of the prevailing inflation, India Inc commentary and his tips for investors looking to invest in the flavour of the season — the digital sector IPOs.

Welcome to the show, sir.

1) How big is inflation a concern for the market and India Inc?

2) Almost all the key Nifty50 earnings are in. Did the numbers meet your expectations? How would you read the management commentaries?

3) Do you think many of the 2021 digital IPO listings may test investor patience in terms of their path to profitability? Do you expect some of them to reward investors big in the next 3-5 years?

4) Name a couple of sectors which are out of favour, but you think can deliver big in the next 12-18 months.

5) What would be your advise to investors in mid and smallcap spaces?

Thank you Mr Bhattacharya.
