Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 110.25 points down at 17999.2 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Walchandngr Ind, Supreme Infra, IRIS Business Servic, Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd. and Vikas WSP, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 14 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 36 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Maruti Suzuki, M&M, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp and Tech Mahindra were among top gainers during the day, while Shree Cements, RIL, Hindalco, SBI and Tata Consumer ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 396.34 points down at 60322.37.
Traders piled up positions in Cables, Auto, Agro Processing, Auto Ancillaries and IT – Hardware sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Industrial Equipment and Industrial Consumables sectors during the day.
