Tata Consultancy(up 0.7 per cent) and Wipro(up 0.33 per cent) were among the top gainers.
L&T Technology(down 3.93 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 2.7 per cent), Coforge(down 1.6 per cent), Mindtree(down 1.06 per cent) and MPhasis(down 0.85 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty IT index was down 0.32 per cent at 35892.3 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 207.65 points at 17557.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 709.61 points at 58926.4.
