Laurus(up 1.06 per cent) and Cipla(up 0.83 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 3.2 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 3.03 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 2.52 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 2.35 per cent) and Lupin(down 2.14 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.81 per cent at 13372.2 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 185.8 points at 17579.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 654.82 points at 58981.19.
