Shares of Gland Pharma(up 3.57 per cent) and Cipla(up 0.35 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories(down 5.7 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 3.83 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 3.19 per cent), Lupin(down 3.05 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 2.77 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.75 per cent down at 13245.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 348.25 points at 17416.55, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1170.12 points at 58465.89.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 42 closed in the red.

Shares of D K Enterprises Global Ltd., Dhunseri Invst, Lakshmi Finance, Kotyark Industries Ltd. and Bharti Airtel(PP)hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while One97 Communications Ltd., Fino Payments Bank Ltd., Valiant Organics, Sadbhav Eng and Biofil Chem hit their fresh 52-week lows.
