Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 121.2 points up at 17536.25 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Vikas Proppant & Gr, Nidan Laboratories And Healthcare Ltd., Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., Dev Information Tech and Swan Energy, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 23 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 27 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, RIL, Divis Labs, ITC, Infosys and Tech Mahindra were among top gainers during the day, while Indian Oil Corp., Britannia, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank and IndusInd Bank ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 454.1 points up at 58795.09.
Traders piled up positions in Diversified, Industrial Equipment, Textiles, Hospitals & Allied Services and Packaging sectors, while selling was witnessed in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Airlines and Services sectors during the day.
