Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Monday’s session.

Godrej Consumer Products(up 1.75%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 1.67%), Prataap Snacks(up 1.49%), Dodla Dairy(up 1.47%) and Future Consumer(up 1.45%) stood among the top gainers.

Bajaj Consumer(down 4.69%), ADF Foods(down 4.63%), DFM Foods(down 4.06%), Parag Milk(down 3.90%), Tasty Bite Eatables(down 3.73%), Heritage Foods(down 3.07%), Umang Dairies(down 3.03%), Emami(down 2.76%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 2.55%) and Hind.Foods(down 2.42%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 27.5 points up at 17053.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 153.43 points at 57260.58.

Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 2.82%), HCL Technologies(up 2.08%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.94%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.6%), Wipro(up 1.47%), Bajaj Finance(up 1.45%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.39%), Bajaj Finserv(up 1.25%), Reliance Industries(up 1.2%) and Hindalco Industries(up 0.76%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 2.49%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 2.12%), UPL Ltd(down 2.05%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.04%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.03%), NTPC(down 1.82%), Indian Oil Corporation(down 1.78%), Axis Bank(down 1.61%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.53%) and Shree Cement(down 1.46%) closed in the red.
