Shares of HCL Technologies(up 2.08 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 1.6 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.51 per cent), Wipro(up 1.47 per cent) and Tech Mahindra(up 0.61 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MPhasis(down 2.31 per cent), L&T Technology(down 1.51 per cent) and Mindtree(down 0.22 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.76 per cent up at 34870.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 27.5 points at 17053.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 153.43 points at 57260.58.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
