Tata Consumer to replace GAIL India in Nifty50 index from March 31

MUMBAI: Shares of Tata Consumer Products will be included in the Nifty50 index and will replace those of from March 31, the National Stock Exchange said in a statement today.

Tata Consumer Products will enter the

benchmark index for the first time in its history, making it the fifth Tata Group company to become part of the index. Currently, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Motors, Titan Company and Tata Steel are part of the Nifty50 index.

For GAIL India, the exclusion brings to an end the stock’s nearly 18-year stint in India’s premier stock market index. The stock of the company was first included in the Nifty50 in May 2003.

Other notable changes include the exit of Bank of Baroda, Container Corporation of India, and Hindustan Zinc from Nifty Next50 index. At the same time, NSE will include shares of Adani Enterprises, MRF and Jubilant Foodworks into the Nifty Next50 index.
