Shares of Marico (down 3.71 per cent), VBL (down 2.43 per cent), Nestle India (down 1.34 per cent), Emami (down 0.87 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (down 0.58 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
While Dabur India (up 0.95 per cent), ITC (up 0.53 per cent), Colgate Palmolive (India) (up 0.41 per cent), United Breweries (up 0.31 per cent) and Tata Consumer Products (up 0.06 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.26 per cent down at 33004.85 around 02:08PM.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 155.95 points at 15137.95, while the BSE Sensex was up 427.56 points at 51209.25.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.
Shares of BHEL, Vodafone Idea, PNB, Coal India and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Hindustan Copper, NBCC , Tata Chemicals, BHEL and Adani Enterprises hit their fresh 52 week high in today’s trade, while Marine Electricals (India) Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
