Stock market update: Bank stocks fall; Punjab National Bank slips nearly 2%

NEW DELHI: Bank stocks were trading on a negative note at 01:01PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of IDFC Bank (down 1.69 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 1.59 per cent), State Bank of India (down 1.05 per cent), RBL Bank (down 1.01 per cent) and Bandhan Bank (down 0.6 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While

(up 0.49 per cent) and Federal Bank (up 0.36 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.3 per cent down at 35077.05 around 01:01PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 51.45 points at 14980.95, while the BSE Sensex was up 221.4 points at 50616.48.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Bank of Baroda, SAIL and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Intellect Design, Zensar Tech, General Insurance Corp, Firstsource Solution and Vaibhav Global hit their fresh 52week high in today’s trade, while Shrenik Ltd., B C Power Controls Ltd. and Marine Electricals (India) Ltd. hit fresh 52week low in trade.
