Soybean futures jump 3% on strong spot demand

NEW DELHI: Soybean prices on Thursday went up by Rs 248 to Rs 7,775 per quintal in futures market as traders created fresh positions tracking positive spot demand.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, soybean for May delivery rose by Rs 248, or 3.29 per cent, to Rs 7,775 per quintal with an open interest of 93,610 lots.

Likewise, Soybean for June delivery went up by Rs 268, or 3.54 per cent to Rs 7,630 per quintal with an open interest of 35,835 lots.

Marketmen said raising of fresh positions by speculators on the back of higher demand mainly led to rise in soybean prices.
