Dow Jones shares: Dow Jones opens lower; set for weekly gains

Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Friday as investors hit pause after a barrage of strong earnings and upbeat economic data through the week drove the benchmark S&P 500 index to record levels in the previous session.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 131.6 points, or 0.39%, at the open to 33,928.62. The S&P 500 fell 18.4 points, or 0.43%, at the open to 4,193.34, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 62.8 points, or 0.44%, to 14,020.17 at the opening bell.
