ETMarkets Global Summit.
Dalal Street’s most awaited event goes virtual this year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and kicks off on January 20, Wednesday, on www.etmarkets.com and www.economictimes.com besides the social media channels of the two biggest digital brands on business and financial markets in India.
The fourth edition of the annual event, which brings together policy makers, regulators, thought leaders and market players under one umbrella for a daylong brainstorming over policies, ideas and market/economy trends, has over the years turned into Dalal Street’s most-sought-after platform for India-focused investors and money managers to share their wisdom gathered through the year.
This year’s ETMGS will also feature some other interesting sessions: Dalal Street’s youngest female money manager, Roshi Jain of Franklin Templeton, takes on market veteran Raamdeo Agrawal in a discussion that will put 25 years of wealth creation studies by the Motilal Oswal Chairman under the lens; another young erudite Dalal Street executive Shiv Sehgal would be picking the brains of commodities guru Jim Rogers on the dollar and what is it signalling for equity and debt markets for the next few years.
ETMGS 2021 runs from January 20 through January 22.
KV Kamath, the former chief of New Development Bank-BRICS, ICICI Bank and Infosys, who recently headed the RBI committee on debt restructuring, will share his insights on the state of the economy, health of Indian banks and the changing equation among global economic powers in an exclusive session.
In yet another session, one of mutual fund industry’s original torch-bearers, Madhu Kela (Founder, MK Ventures), takes a clinical look at the state of affairs in the mutual fund industry and seeks answers to the question: whether active or passive investing will be the best choice for investors from here on. That discussion brings in local and global expertise in Aashish Somaiyaa of White Oak Capital, Ben Johnson of Morningstar; Kalpen Parekh of DSP Mutual Fund and Koel Ghosh of S&P Dow Jones Indices.
With the Union Budget 2021 just days away, the event brings in eminent economist Swaminathan Aiyar to present his own ideas for what Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman promises to be one not seen in the past 100 years. An elite panel of economists and industrialists comprising eminent economist Rathin Roy, Sonal Varma of Nomura, Pranjul Bhandari of HSBC India, industrialist Sangita Reddy and Dalal Street veteran R Venkataraman of IIFL Group will explore the possibilities of what the dream Budget may contain.
In other interesting sessions this year, Nimesh Shah of ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund will talk on ‘Balancing risk & return while managing investors’ money’, Devina Mehra of First Global will answer the question if “it is time to go for international investing?”, investing veteran S Naren will talk on ‘Investing in the New Normal’ while star fund manager Prashant Jain will share tips on ‘Investing in times of low interest rates’.
