Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 70.25 points up at 15924.2 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Walpar Nutritions Ltd., SVP Global, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd. and SKS Textiles, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 26 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 24 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, HCL Tech, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Hindalco were among top gainers during the day, while ONGC, Eicher Motors, Coal India Ltd, Bharti Airtel and M&M ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 254.8 points up at 53158.85.
Traders piled up positions in IT Enabled Services, Real Estate, Construction, Diversified and Metals – Non Ferrous sectors, while selling was witnessed in Plastics, Gems and Jewellery, Chemicals, Sugar and Paper sectors during the day.
