Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 2.21 per cent) and Biocon (up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Lupin (down 1.55 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 1.53 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 1.25 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (down 1.16 per cent) and Divis Laboratories (down 0.96 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.32 per cent down at 13920.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 69.05 points at 15778.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 209.36 points at 52653.07.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.
