Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 2.25 points up at 16636.9 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Grand Foundry, CarTrade Tech Ltd., AmaraRaja Batteries, Hero MotoCorp and Radha Madhav, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 20 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 30 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Britannia, Tata Consumer, HDFC Life, BPCL and RIL were among top gainers during the day, while Bharti Airtel, JSW Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Hindalco and Power Grid ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 4.89 points up at 55949.10.
Traders piled up positions in Industrial Equipment, Diversified, Glass, Retail and Defence sectors, while selling was witnessed in IT – Hardware, Petrochemicals, Telecommunications, Tea / Coffee and Mining sectors during the day.
