Shares of RBLBANK (up 1.85 per cent), Federal Bank (up 1.31 per cent), Bandhan Bank (up 1.28 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 0.34 per cent) and Punjab National Bank (up 0.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 1.26 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 1.19 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 1.18 per cent) and Axis Bank (down 0.88 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.78 per cent down at 36944.65.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 15.35 points at 17546.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 77.94 points at 58927.33.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.
