Shares of Brigade Enterprises(up 0.68 per cent) and Godrej Properties(up 0.07 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Indiabulls Real Estate(down 4.68 per cent), Prestige Estates Projects(down 4.13 per cent), Sunteck Realty(down 3.47 per cent), Oberoi Realty(down 3.27 per cent) and SOBHA(down 2.04 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Realty index closed 1.62 per cent down at 501.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 176.3 points at 17646.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 555.15 points at 59189.73.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 41 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, YES Bank, Tata Power and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Shiva Texyarn, Jindal Worldwide, Ingersoll-Rand, Chembond Chem and Bosch hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Inventure Grwth, Krsnaa Diagnostics Ltd. and Shrem InvIT hit their fresh 52-week lows.
