Tata Motors(up 1.39 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 0.66 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 0.32 per cent) were among the top gainers.
TIINDIA(down 3.02 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.61 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(down 1.33 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.26 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(down 0.94 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.44 per cent at 11575.55 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 0.85 points at 18417.9, while the BSE Sensex was up 43.58 points at 61759.63.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.
