The company’s strong quarterly performance was driven by its transmission and distribution segment, which benefitted from the surge in domestic power demand. Revenues of T&D segment jumped 48 per cent on-year to Rs 6,787.4 crore.
The power generation business suffered due to reduced run time as thermal power stations across the country faced coal shortage during the quarter. Revenues of the power generation segment fell 36 per cent YoY to Rs 2,216.9 crore.
The renewable energy segment saw its revenues in the quarter rise to Rs 1,494.9 crore from Rs 1,105.6 crore a year ago.
While the cost of fuel reduced 17.2 per cent on-year during the quarter, cost of power purchased rose 61 per cent from the year-ago period.
Shares of Tata Power closed 2.8 per cent lower at Rs. 217.95 on the National Stock Exchange.
