Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 83.2 points to 17972.15 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Airo Lam, Kotyark Industries Ltd., RPP Infra Proj(PP), Opto Circuits and Mahindra EPC, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 34 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 16 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, UPL, L&T, Indian Oil Corp., Hindalco and Adani Ports SEZ were among top gainers, while Divis Labs, Sun Pharma, Titan Company, Britannia and Bharti Airtel traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 258.5 points up at 60287.56 at 11:06AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Construction, Electric/Electronics, Leather, IT Enabled Services and Defence sectors, while selling was visible in Miscellaneous, Tourism & Hospitality, Learning & Education, Services and Tyres sectors.
