Shares of Bharat Forge(up 4.26 per cent), Bosch(up 2.62 per cent), Tata Motors(up 2.39 per cent), TIINDIA(up 2.17 per cent) and MRF(up 1.95 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.53 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(down 0.81 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.66 per cent up at 11645.75.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 151.75 points at 18068.55, while the BSE Sensex stood up 477.99 points at 60545.61.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank India and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of IRIS Business Servic, Allied Digital, D P Abhushan, VRL Logistics and Max Ventures Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., Jiya Eco Products Lt, Opto Circuits, Airo Lam and CarTrade Tech Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
